Sankofa Medical Charities Celebrates GivingTuesday Joining Millions Around the World
Organization will participate in the global generosity movement on December 1, 2020
Atlanta, GA, December 1, 2020—- Sankofa Medical Charities is joining millions of other organizations, businesses, donors and philanthropists around the world participating in the global generosity movement GivingTuesday on December 1, 2020. The nonprofit will celebrate its first ever GivingTuesday event with a large social media presence which includes a virtual fundraiser.
This GivingTuesday, Sankofa Medical Charities will inspire generosity by focusing its efforts on a virtual fundraising campaign that will directly impact its organization’s cause of fostering partnerships to benefit underserved communities through medical education, care and supplies.
“Sankofa Medical Charities is such an important organization because it impacts patients from around the world who have the greatest, yet sometimes simplest medical needs,” stated Dr. Leonard Gyebi, Founder of Sankofa Medical Charities. “These patients, who are living in poverty, are lacking some of the most crucial medical supplies. A donor’s money goes so far to help ensure they get the healthcare they need, and deserve.”
As an example of how a donation can support these medical costs:
- $25 provides glucose test strips to screen 25 people for diabetes
- $40 provides medicine for 10 patients during a primary care mobile clinic
- $60 offers labs for complete blood count and comprehensive metabolic panel for at risk patients
Through generous donations, the nonprofit has been able to support hospitals in under-served regions with equipment, such as hospital beds, imaging and dialysis machines, ambulances to provide patient transportation to medical facilities, a variety of different testing and blood work as well as measures to help prevent the spread of malaria.
“We are extremely happy to see how much we’ve accomplished in the short period of time since our nonprofit has been established,” concluded Dr. Gyebi. “Through fundraising efforts such as GivingTuesday, we know that our donations will only increase, allowing us to offer even more medical advancements and treatments to some of the poorest, most needed people in the world.”
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Since its inception, GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
